Description
Prerequisites: Blacksmithing 100 or 3 Open Forge’s or Administrative Approval (any of these)
This workshop will be held on July 10-11, 2021 from 7AM to about 3PM.
In this class you will learn how to forge and construct a knife under the instruction of Clayton Cowart. You will forge a blade from 1084 that 4-5 inches in length, you will then go through the processes of forging, grinding, heat treating, and handling the blade.
All materials and tools will be provided. Please bring safety glasses and work gloves if you have them. Closed toed shoes are required.
The price of the class is $550. You can either pay the full amount at the time you sign up or put half down to hold your spot. The balance will be due upon arriving at the workshop. If we do not receive enough registrations with deposit 30 days prior to the date of the class, we reserve the right to cancel the class with a full refund. Cancellation with a 100% refund can be done up to 30 days prior to the class. Cancellation within 2-4 weeks before the class will receive a 50% refund. Cancellation less than 14 days prior to class is non-refundable.
About the Instructor
Clayton Cowart
Clayton Cowart has been a bladesmith for ten years. He specializes in making ancient steel, heat treating, and tight tolerance knife making.
Clayton’s teaching style balances science and art to cut through the myths that make intimidating tasks seem simple and easy.
He has been teaching classes and workshops in Arizona since 2012 and teaching along the West Coast since 2017.
