Description
This class was formerly titled, “Bowie Knife Workshop” and has been changed due to the restructuring of our courses and website.
Prerequisites: Bladesmithing 203 or Administrative Approval (any of the following)
This is a 4-day class held over two separate weekends: February 13-14 and March 13-14, 2021 from 7AM to 4PM each day.
In this class, you will forge a blade from 1075 tool steel. Then you will rough grind and fit a guard. Then you will heat treat the blade, final grind, and fit the handle. You will leave with a finished knife!
All materials and tools will be provided. Please bring safety glasses and work gloves if you have them. Closed toed shoes are required.
The price of the class is $1,500. You can either pay the full amount at the time you sign up or put half down to hold your spot. The balance will be due upon arriving at the workshop. If we do not receive enough registrations with deposit 30 days prior to the date of the class, we reserve the right to cancel the class with a full refund. Cancellation with a 100% refund can be done up to 30 days prior to the class. Cancellation within 2-4 weeks before the class will receive a 50% refund. Cancellation less than 14 days prior to class is non-refundable. *Please call prior to the 2-week window with any issues or concerns about attending.

Clayton Cowart
Clayton’s teaching style balances science and art to cut through the myths that make intimidating tasks seem simple and easy.
Clayton Cowart has been a bladesmith for ten years. He specializes in making ancient steel, heat treating, and tight tolerance knife making.
He has been teaching classes and workshops in Arizona since 2012 and teaching along the West Coast since 2017.
